The Materials Supervisors is responsible for Delivery Performance, Inventory, Material Control Principle advances, and Inventory Control. Responsible to implement tools and processes that improve operating efficiencies and reduce cost within plant and supporting supply chains.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • The Materials Supervisor supervises transport of materials to and from departments and ensures material needs are met throughout the organization.
  • Responsible for overseeing warehousing, shipping, receiving, and handling of materials.
  • Supervises and coordinates the work of employees who load and unload material within a warehouse or storage facility.
  • Develop the material movement which includes storage and staging locations, and preservation requirements (system, physical and equipment). Oversees the utilization of hand trucks, forklifts, hoists, conveyors, or other handling equipment to move material.
  • Manage inventory levels and turns (rotation), resolve inventory issues involving count discrepancies.
  • Ensures material inventory levels are sufficient to meet production schedules.
  • Source, procure and expedite parts & materials needed to maintain the operation, raw material, finished goods, Kanban, and consignment inventory.
  • Keep finished goods entry (inbound) running at all times to keep production lines from shutting down
  • Keep finished goods outgoing/shipping (outbound) running at all times
  • Facilitate, coordinate and manage the material flow from supplier to customer ensuring customer and factory satisfaction from placement of order to on time delivery.
  • Establishes procedures and supervises the physical inventory
  • Source, procure and expedite parts & materials needed to maintain the operation, raw material, finished goods, Kanban, and consignment inventory.
  • Enters information into a computerized system to maintain up-to-date stock records, retrieve stored data, or respond to inquiries about inventory levels or delivery schedules.
  • Has authority for personnel actions and oversees most day-to-day operations of group.
  • Manage Sourcing/Procurement relationship to ensure supply chain performance.
  • Leadership of materials team in meeting objectives and developing strategy and KPI
  • Interface with engineering, sales, production on new products introduction
  • Contributes to the development of processes and procedures.

Experience and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Materials Management or related field and a minimum of five (5) years of experience materials.
  • Strong working knowledge of office tools including; Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Demonstrates an ability to be organized.
  • Demonstrates a high degree of personal and professional ethics and integrity. Requires self-direction, tact, diplomacy and a clear, courteous and professional manner when dealing with the internal and external customers.
  • Ability to prioritize workload and shift work activities in order to meet business needs and department goals, essential.
  • Proven ability to work calmly under pressure and successfully manage multiple priorities
  • Ability to make recommendations regarding job methods and departmental procedures.
  • Must be able to independently arrange and organize work efforts on a weekly, monthly and quarterly basis. Must be able to meet tight deadlines. Ability to multi-task on a consistent basis.
  • Ability to work independently, collectively within a team environment and be self-motivated in work habits.
  • Ability and desire to learn new skills quickly.
  • Prior experience, preferably in the areas of automotive, high volume assembly and sequencing
